The Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy shot in the leg during a shooting attack in Albuquerque is now out of the intensive care unit.
According to BCSO Sgt. Aaron Williamson, deputy Robin Hopkins will remain hospitalized for several weeks and is scheduled to undergo multiple surgeries to repair the damage to her leg. Williamson said Hopkins was grateful for the support she has received from the community.
Several groups have started fundraisers for Hopkins, including the Village of Los Ranchos. Donations can be made at any Bank of America branch in New Mexico to the "Los Ranchos Community Trust Fund." All contributions will go toward helping Hopkins and her family through her recovery.
Another online fundraiser, sponsored by Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts, has raised more than $9,000 for Hopkins. Donations can be made on www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/0gc3/fighting-for-robin.
