An Albuquerque family is trying to bring their son, a well-known Flamenco guitarist, home after he suffered a serious stroke at a performance in Laredo, Texas. The Flamenco community is pulling together to try to raise money for the musician.

Ricardo Anglada's fingers once moved swiftly and beautifully over the strings of his Flamenco guitar, but the music and the joy came to a harsh halt last weekend.

"It was near impossible to accept," said Ricardo's brother, Paul Anglada. "But then you do have to accept it, and say, we have to do what we can do."

Ricdardo's musical influence is felt in Tierra Adentro Charter School where he's a teacher and in Flamenco performances around the country.

"He's definitely one of the most sought after guitarists in the United States," said Marissa "and he certainly plays a huge role in our organization and promoting the art form."

Ricardo's fiancé and father traveled to Texas to stay by his side. Their hope is that Ricardo can recover at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque.

But, it will cost about $16,000 to transport him, in addition to hundreds of thousands of dollars in mounting medical bills.

"He can move, but this was his life," said his fiancé,  Alisa Alba. "His hands were his life and it's what he did for a living. It's heartbreaking for us. And for him, I can't imagine."

Ricardo is slowly learning to walk and write again. His family believes his love of Flamenco will be strong enough to help him find the right tune on his guitar once again.

There are several fundraisers and events benefiting Ricardo. If you want to donate, visit
