Body of woman positively identified

The body of a woman found in Eddy County earlier in the week has been positively identified.

The woman was identified as 24-year-old Anna L. Villegas of Seminole, Texas.

According to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Villegas was reported missing to the Gains County Sheriff’s Office on November 21st.

The New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner determined that the victim’s cause of death was asphyxiation.

Additional forensic tests are still being run.
