Kirtland Air Force Base will honor one of its pilots in a ceremony on Monday.

Captain Thad Ronnau is an instructor pilot in the 58th Special Operations Wing.

He is being honored for a rescue mission in Afghanistan, where he rescued a critically wounded U.S. soldier.

"The professional skill and airmanship displayed by Captain Ronnau reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force,” United States Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh said.
