Memorial service scheduled for fallen deputy

A memorial service has been scheduled for a Sandoval County Deputy who was hit and killed during a snowstorm earlier this week.

Sergeant Robert Baron was hit Thursday on Interstate 25 near the San Felipe Pueblo, while investigating a weather-related crash.

A ceremony honoring Baron is scheduled for Thursday at the Santa Ana Star Center starting at 10 a.m.

The sheriff’s office says a lot of people have expressed interest in helping Baron’s family.

The have set up the Robert Baron Memorial Fund.

Donations are being taken at any BBVA Compass location.
