A jury has decided whether an Arizona inmate will get the death penalty or life in prison for killing a couple in New Mexico.

The U.S. Attorney's Office confirmed the verdict will be announced at 1:15 p.m.

The same federal jury that found John McCluskey guilty of murder is deciding his fate. McCluskey was convicted of killing Gary and Linda Haas near Santa Rosa in 2010.

He had just escaped from an Arizona prison when prosecutors said he targeted the Haases at a rest stop.

The jury has been deliberating his sentence since last week. If they don't sentence McCluskey to death, he will get life in prison.
