ALBUQUERQUE -- Parents are worried about their kids' safety at an Albuquerque elementary school in Nob Hill after someone threw two pipe bombs at the Department of Corrections Office across the street.
Some Monte Vista Elementary School parents want something to be done and plan to voice their concerns at a meeting coordinated by legislators and parents on Thursday night. One thing parents are expected to talk about is why they want the department office to move somewhere else.
The department told KOB Eyewitness News 4 they've been trying to move for two years and have looked at dozens of places but haven't had much luck. In fact, the state announced in April that the building would move to the Plaza Maya building on First Street, but a final deal still hasn't been reached.
Police are still looking for the person responsible for throwing the pipe bombs. Surveillance footage from a nearby home shows the suspect on a black or red bike.
