Some Albuquerque families got a holiday surprise on Sunday night.
They were not expecting much for Christmas, but something remarkable happened that brought many of them to tears.
Christmas came early courtesy of Operation Santa’s Child.
About 150 Albuquerque residents made the night memorable.
They loaded up clothes, toys and groceries.
They caravanned to four different homes and delivered big doses of holiday cheer.
Some of the families were overwhelmed.
“It’s awesome to see that there’s good people in the world. Thank you guys, this is wonderful,” Rachel Garcia said.
A young boy received a bicycle at the first home and Santa delivered presents to a little girl at the second.
“It is a blessing we’ve been struggling with Christmas this month and it is indeed a blessing. A true blessing…we appreciate this, we didn’t expect this,” Sharon Stingley said.
A mother at home number three was stunned that people would be so generous.
“Thank you so much. You don’t know how much I appreciate this,” the woman said.
At the fourth and last home there were more tears of gratitude.
This is the 18th year of Operation Santa’s Child.
Over the years, they have provided a special Christmas for more than 320 Albuquerque children and their families.
