Safe delivery tips for the busiest mailing day of the year

Millions of people will be heading to post offices across the country on Monday, making it the busiest mailing day of the year.

In Albuquerque, post offices have been gearing up for the crowds for days by bringing in extra workers.

At the mail processing and distribution center in Albuquerque, 600 million pieces of mail will be processed for delivery across the country on Monday.

Here are some tips for make sure safe delivery for your mail:

  • Print the address on the front and side of the box
  • Write the address of the recipient on a piece of paper and slip it inside the package just in case
  • Use thick tape so packages don't come open
  • Make sure the zip code is correct because that's the way mail is sorted
