JAL, N.M. -- A former Jal High School teacher will face a criminal charge for allegedly having sex with a student.
New Mexico State Police say 52-year-old David Proctor had a relationship with a 17-year-old girl while he worked at the school. He turned himself in to the Lea County Detention Center in Lovington, N.M.
State police say agents aggressively investigated the incident, which resulted in evidence to attain an arrest warrant for Proctor. He is being held at the Lea County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
The incident remains under investigation due to possible other locations and incidents involving Proctor and the student, state police said.
