Police rescue hikers from canyon trail

Albuquerque police were called out to the South Embudo Canyon trailhead Thursday afternoon to assist several hikers out of heavy terrain.

One of the hikers, a 22-year-old man, reportedly fell and injured his back. APD Open Space Search and Rescue Officers were dispatched to transport the man to a local hospital. The man is reported to be in stable condition.

The identities of the hikers are not presently known.
