A backyard in Roswell is now a crime scene after a body was found Wednesday night in a shallow grave. The human remains are badly decomposed and haven’t been identified yet.
The discovery has the family of a missing man watching closely.
The body of a man was found behind an abandoned house next to the train tracks.
Roswell Police are still waiting on dental records to identify the body, but are investigating all missing persons including 19-year-old Miguel Castillo.
“We want to know who did this and why," said Castillo’s sister Evelyn Baca.
His family said he’s been missing since October 8th and said they have reason to believe the body is their brother.
“We found the shirt that he was wearing when he left my aunts and then we found the insurance paperwork in the back where the body was found to my brother's car," said Baca. "I want to know who did this to my brother and why. Why did they do this to us, my brother was not a mean person."
As investigators continue to search for clues, neighbors are left terrified fearing for their own safety as well as their loved ones.
“Very scary, it concerns me like I said I have a son, and a daughter, she's my niece but she's like my daughter, and she’s young. I don't want her out here at night," said Scarlet Miller.
Miller lives across the street from where the body was found.
“It’s really scary up here, you'd be surprised if you set out here at night time, I see fights, I've seen all kinds of things," said Miller.
The family wants answers.
“We will never be able to get through this, never. My baby brother, that was my baby brother," said Baca.
