Some New Mexicans are kicking off the Christmas holiday with healthier teeth and it’s all thanks to Comfort Dental. All morning on Tuesday, they offered free dental work like fillings, extractions and cleanings.

Dozens of people lined up outside the Lomas location.

For some, this couldn’t have come at a better time. “Money is tight right now at Christmas time,” said Violet Andrews.

Andrews’ son was complaining about his front tooth last night so she called Comfort Dental and found out it would cost $85 but not on Tuesday. “All free. Today was a good day because it saved me some money,” added Andrews.

“A lot of people just don’t have room in their budget for dental care,” said Dr. Bruce Tharp with Comfort Dental.

Dr. Bruce Tharp said Comfort Dental has been offering free work on Christmas Eve for the past 30 years. It’s their way of giving back. “It’s not really sacrifice. It’s more of an opportunity to do good,” said Dr. Tharp.
