Church overcomes copper theft to host Christmas mass

A Santa Fe church didn't let a copper burglary stop their Christmas services.

Thieves snagged about 200 feet of copper wire worth $25,000 from St. John's Methodist church last week.

The wiring has since been replaced, but a boiler that heats the sanctuary broke because of the sudden cool down. The church rented a diesel-powered heater to keep parishioners warm during Christmas Eve mass.

Church officials say they may not be able to replace the heating unit until spring.
