A Las Cruces woman admitted to locking an eight-year-old girl in a wooden cage while she went to a movie with her boyfriend.

Cindy Patriarchas pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse this week. Under the plea deal, prosecutors will drop four other related charges.

Patriarchas told a judge that the whole ordeal back in January was the "biggest and worst mistake" of her life. She faces up to six years in prison.

Patriarchas's boyfriend, Edmond Gonzales, also faces child abuse charges. They were both in the process of adopting the 8-year-old when police arrested them.
