Rio Rancho police say a 21-year-old driver and her passenger were killed in a crash after she ran a red light on Sunday morning.

The crash took place at the intersection of Unser and Southern boulevards around 2 a.m. According to police, 21-year-old Audree Jones passed through a red light at the intersection and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

Upon impact, Jones' vehicle rotated and slid into a street light. Her passenger, 22-year-old Dakota Chino, was ejected from the vehicle.

Both Chino and Jones died in the crash. The other driver suffered minor injuries, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
