State police New Year's Eve patrols net 9 DWI arrests

New Mexico State Police saturation patrols in Bernalillo and Santa Fe counties made 17 arrests, nine of which were DWI related, on New Year's Eve.

In Bernalillo County, 16 state police and three Motor Transportation Division officers hit the streets last night. Combined, the officers made five misdemeanor arrests, three felony arrests and seven DWI arrests.

One traffic stop also yielded more than two ounces of black tar heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and a stolen firearm.

In Santa Fe County, state police officers made two DWI arrests and issued 32 citations.

State police noted they did not respond to any alcohol-related crashes on New Year's Eve.
