KOB Eyewitness News 4 has obtained the 911 call placed by a member of a New Year’s Eve Party in Rio Rancho that left one man dead from a headshot wound.

The call marks seven minutes of chaos at a home in Rio Rancho.

Caller: Hi, someone just shot himself.

The caller, a young woman at the party, is talking about is Carlos Rueda but according to the police report it was not self-inflicted.

Witnesses say Rueda’s friend Ryan Wathen went to a bedroom with him. Then they heard a gunshot.

Dispatcher: What happened leading up to this?

Caller: Nothing we were all just, you know, hanging out and I'm not sure he just went into his room and we just heard this gun shot and I have no idea what happened.

Police say Wathan rushed to his dad's home where he later admitted to shooting Rueda in the head.

Wathen told police Rueda wanted him to check out a gun laying on his computer desk.

Wathen says Rueda told him to trust him the gun wasn't loaded and to put it to his head and pull the trigger.

Dispatcher: Ok is he awake right now?

Caller: Is he awake? Is he awake? He's, he's, he's got a bullet in his head but I'm really not sure if he's awake.

Rueda is fighting for his life and barely breathing. His friends say his mouth is full of blood.

Dispatcher: Stay with him and make sure his head is tilted back and check breathing often

The dispatcher also asks about the weapon.

Dispatcher: Okay does anyone know where the gun is?

Caller: Um, I do not see the gun, I do not see the gun, and oh it's on the desk. It’s away from him.

Dispatcher: Okay it's on a desk?

Caller: It's not near him it's on a desk.

The caller also mentions Rueda was employed at a local gun shop so there were many firearms in the home.

Wathen was arrested two hours later and has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.

Police believe Rueda was shot out of negligence.
