A car chase from Albuquerque to Rio Rancho ended with a totaled car and a suspect in custody on Thursday afternoon.

Rio Rancho police officials said APD's Repeat Offender Project pursued 33-year-old Jeremy Robertson, who was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants, into Rio Rancho. Robertson got out of his vehicle near NM 528 and Southern and officers continued the pursuit on foot.

Robertson then ran back to his vehicle and attempted to flee when officers shot out the tires, resulting in a crash.

"To be speeding while pedestrians were walking, all the vehicles... We weren't sure how desperate the individual was going to be in order to flee," said Janet Garcia, spokeswoman for the Rio Rancho Police Department.

Robertson was not injured and was taken into custody by APD.

Jeremy Robertson, 33.
