This year, Coronado Center will be celebrating its golden anniversary.
To coincide, Randy Sanchez, the general manager of Coronado Center, says a multi-million dollar renovation is on the way.
Expect a full-scale paint job, new tiles, raised ceilings and new signs, along with LEDs. It's an effort to make the mall more roomy and brighter.
"It's a good sign when the landowners of the malls today start re-investing in their properties," Sanchez said.
Especially with the growth of neighboring shopping centers like ABQ Uptown and Winrock. It would appear that Coronado Center is trying to keep up with the Joneses, but Sanchez says that their success benefits everybody.
"They actually indirectly help us whenever they invest in their projects. I think we'll be a complement to them just like how they're a complement to us," said Sanchez.
The Food Court will also be completely re-modeled and shoppers can stay connected with WiFi.
Construction will occur late at night and is expected to be done in early October.
