A Romeroville woman says the man who was shot by New Mexico State Police Saturday night did nothing wrong, according to the Las Vegas Optic.

Police say Albert Urban was driving the wrong way on I-25 near Las Vegas and was shot after he drove into an officer.

But Helen Vargas says she witnessed it all, and says Urban did not drive aggressively into the officer.

Urban is now being charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated fleeing.

Vargas says Urban was shot right in front of her house and says the allegations against him are not true.

A State Police spokesperson says the investigation is still ongoing.

Urban is recovering at UNM Hospital and at last report was in stable condition.
