ROSWELL, N.M. -- A 12-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl are recuperating at a Lubbock, Texas, hospital after a Roswell school shooting on Tuesday morning.
According to a University Medical Center spokesman, the boy is listed in critical condition, but the girl has been upgraded to satisfactory condition.>
The girl, identified as Kendal Sanders, was hit in the right shoulder. The boy was hit in the face near his eyes.
A Roswell hospital confirmed the two students they hospitalized from Berrendo Middle School after the shooting were the same victims airlifted to Lubbock.
New Mexico State Police Chief Pete Kasseta confirmed a 12-year-old boy was taken into custody after the shooting.
The suspect allegedly packed a sawed-off .20 gauge shotgun in his backpack, walked through the front doors of the school and headed to the gym, where he opened fire.
