New Mexico is back home after a two game conference road trip to host UNLV in the Pit on Wednesday.
Both teams are going in different directions early in Mountain West play.
The Lobos (12-3, 3-0) are on a five game winning streak after wins at Wyoming and San Jose State. UNLV (10-6, 1-2) had its seven game winning streak snapped with home losses against Air Force and Nevada.
The Runnin’ Rebels will need a win in Albuquerque or find themselves struggling in the conference cellar.Their next game is at No. 10 San Diego State.

Smith is the nation’s leading rebounder with 12.8 rpg. He is scoring 12 ppg and has 11 double double performances this year.
Bairstow (20 ppg, 7.3 rpg) and Kirk (14.2 ppg, 9.3 rpg), will also battle junior forward Khem Birch (11.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg) in the paint.
The Lobos will also depend on Kendall Williams. The senior guard has averaged 18.3 ppg and 5.2 assists. He scored 19 points in the 69-65 win at San Jose State, including 10 of UNM’s last 11 points and a he sealed the victory with a last minute bucket.
Williams will have a great matchup with UNLV’s top scorer Bryce Dejean-Jones (14.5 ppg).
