Lapel camera video of an officer-involved shooting in November shows a man following an Albuquerque cop around his vehicle before he is shot.

The officer pulled over 64-year-old Robert Garcia for suspected DWI when the man got out of his vehicle with a pellet gun.

APD Interim Police Chief Allen Banks said officer Peter Romero told Garcia to put down the gun, but when he refused, Romero fired one shot, striking him in the abdomen.

Police later realized Garcia's weapon was just a pellet gun.

APD officials said Garcia had planned to commit suicide by cop, and even had a note in his wallet reading, "Thank you, officer."

Garcia was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.
