Two Albuquerque police officers are recovering after they were attacked during a domestic violence call on Thursday.

APD officials say the officers were dispatched to a home on Turquoise near Juan Tabo and Copper. When they arrived, police said the suspect, Anthony Abeyta, ran out of the home and hit a female officer on the head several times with an object. A male officer was also hit in the face.

"Well after that he fell down, or they got him down and they struggled with him on the ground. They kept saying, 'Let it go, let it go, let it go,'" said Pat Casias, a neighbor who witnessed the incident.

Abeyta was eventually tasered and arrested. The domestic violence victim was found in the home seriously injured.

The female officer was sent to the hospital, but later released.
