Intel announced Friday that over 5,000 jobs will be cut from the computer chip makers' operations worldwide.
This follows news from Intel on Thursday that fourth-quarter earnings missed expectations.
It all comes down to lower sales of personal computers. Analysts said Intel was slow to react to the exploding tablet business.
About 2,900 people work for Intel in Rio Rancho. A spokesperson for the plant tells KOB Eyewitness News 4 it's unknown if any jobs will be cut there.
