Corrales police have arrested a suspect in a high speed chase and crash that left an officer seriously hurt. 21-year-old Casey Williams is accused of playing a major role in the chase, and court records show it wasn’t her first run-in with police.
Williams faces charged for leaving the scene of an accident and possessing stolen property. Police arrested her Wednesday night, eight days after a 100-mile-per-hour pursuit down Corrales Road in a stolen car.
The pursuit caused a crash that flipped Corrales PD Officer Jeremy Romero’s car, sending him to the hospital. He’ll face more procedures at a hospital in Denver and recovery could take months or more.
Police found Williams after broadcasting her photo as a “person of interest,” alongside another person. Court records show she has a history with stolen property, including twenty counts for moving stolen firearms and vehicles.
Police say they’re still looking for the second person of interest. They won’t say whether he or Williams was the one driving.
Police say Romero is in good spirits as he attempts to recover.
