The new national director of the FBI stopped by Albuquerque on Friday.

James Comey became the seventh director of the FBI when he was sworn in back in September of 2013.

He spent some time with local, state and tribal enforcement officals.

In the meeting, Comey said that local law enforcement needs to be on the lookout for homegrown violent extremeists.

"What we mean by this is people who in their own homes through information they get on the internet are not directed by Al-Qaeda but are inspired to do harm to others," Comey said.

He also mentioned the Sequestration and federal funding issues.

Comey says a budget has been passed and he plans to hire more intelligence analyst and special agents.
