A grass fire spread quickly in a northeast neighborhood on Sunday.
A Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy says the fire was about 50 by 50 feet when he arrived. When fire crews got to the scene, the blaze had already scorched about an acre and a half.
Firefighters acted fast and were able to put out the fire before it could damage any homes.
"Fortunately fire crews got here quick and knocked it down in a hurry. we didn't have to evacuate any more of these houses," Bernalillo County Sgt. Mark Kmatz said.
Only one home was evacuated during the fire.
Emergency officials want to use this incident as a reminder to not let brush build up outside a home as it can fuel fires.
