'COPS' to film with BCSO once again

A long-running police reality show is returning to the area.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday that "COPS" with be filming with the department this April.

"This is a great way to showcase the high quality deputies we have here in Bernalillo County," Sheriff Dan Houston said in a statement released to the press.

The City of Albuquerque was not approached by the TV show, but according to Erin Thompson, spokesperson for Mayor Richard Berry, had they done so the mayor would have declined.

"He is concentrating his efforts on opportunities to highlight Albuquerque as a center of innovation, arts and diversity which we believe will bring consistently positive attention to Albuquerque as a model place to live and do business," Thompson said.

"COPS" has previously filmed with both BCSO and APD.

"COPS" is one of the longest-running television programs in the United States. The 26th season of the series is now airing on Spike TV.
