They look a little like bird houses.

Each one has unique decorations and phrases giving a hint to what is inside, but you won't find any birds inside here.

"I come here all the time and check them out and see if they have any good books," said Louis Lawson.

These are little libraries.

And they are filled with books for different ages and interests.

Lawson said, "Well you know I'm pretty dark so today I picked up 'To Kill A Mockingbird'”

These lending libraries are popping up all over the country.

According to Mark Everson, teacher at Mosaic Academy in Aztec, "It's just a great way to help kids stay connected to literature and reading."

The little libraries don’t require a library card, there are no fines and your book will never be overdue.

But if you're going to pick up a book,  the little library asks that you leave one too.

Little book lover, Adler Smith said, "I always go check to make sure they are full and I always take a few books each time."

A trade that gives everyone in the community a chance to open up something new.
