Burglary numbers in Santa Fe dropped dramatically last month, according to Santa Fe police.

SFPD reported 92 burglaries in the city—down from 156 last January.

According to the report, burglaries went down nearly 40 percent and auto burglaries fell by more than 60 percent.

The department credits a new program with helping officers track down burglary suspects and prevent future crimes: The Repeat Offender Wall. The program features mugshots of 135 of the city's frequent criminals.

"Every month our officers are challenged to come up with unique techniques to target property crimes. Every month we get a little better and the city becomes safer," SFPD spokeswoman Celina Westervelt wrote.
