Albuquerque – A crowd of approximately 50 people gathered this morning in front of the UNM bookstore, on the south side of the main campus to show support for the people of Venezuela.
Recent protests in the South American country against the socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro have resulted in the death of at least 8 people, and 100 others injured in the past 10 days.
Local residents from Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador and the United States, among other countries, expressed their outrage against the recent wave of violence in Venezuela. The protesters also showed their support while holding Venezuelan flags and handmade signs asking the Venezuelan people to “not give up” in their quest for justice.
Similar rallies were held nationally in cities like Miami and Washington, and internationally in Bogotá, Colombia.
