Several units from the Albuquerque Fire Deparment responded on Saturday morning to a report of a structure fire at Chaparral Elementary.  The fire call was first reported at approximately 10:15 a.m.  Firefighters had to force their way in through the cafeteria as they saw smoke coming out from this area of the building.

According to Monica Armenta, Communications Director with the Albuquerque Public Schools District, the fire started in the cafeteria which is currently under construction.  The cafeteria did suffer smoke and water damage; however it will not affect school operations on Monday.
