The boyfriend of a Texas woman whose body was discovered in Carlsbad Tuesday has been arrested and charged with murder.
Robert Earley was arrested early Wednesday morning after leading Carlsbad police to the body of Emily Lambert. Earley is being charged with an open count of murder, tampering with evidence and being a fugitive from justice.
Lambert, who was a teacher from Dallas, was in the area visiting Earley, who was working in Carlsbad.
Police say Earley and Lambert got into an argument at a bar Saturday night because another man was flirting with her. The argument escalated into a physical fight when the pair returned to their motel room. Earley then kicked and punched Lambert, knocking her unconscious. Earley drove Lambert out to a remote area, tying a rope around her neck and dragging her with his car.
Police questioned Earley for several hours, and after changing his story a few times led police to the body.
Earley is being held on a $1,000,000 cash only bond.
