Aviation Police officer in critical condition after being struck by intoxicated driver

New Mexico State Police is currently investigating an accident involving two vehicles, that ended with one man being sent to the hospital in critical condition.

The accident happened approximately at 10:43pm on Friday when Michelle Rivera, 32 "brushed" the vehicle belonging to Robert Dilley, 52 making him lose control of his vehicle.  Dilley is an Aviation Police Officer who had just left his workplace after working the swing shift.

Michelle Rivera has been booked into the detention center and is being charged with great bodily harm, aggravated DWI and reckless driving in connection with this accident.

Officer Dilley has worked for the Aviation Police Department for the past seven years. Previously Dilley had been a member of the Albuquerque Police Department.
