Lapel camera video of a foot pursuit near the UNM campus last December shows the tense moments before an Albuquerque officer shot and killed an assault suspect.

Andy Jack Snider, 37, died at the hospital after police shot him near Central and University.

Police officials said Snider went after the officers while armed with a hammer.

In the video, one officer shot a beanbag gun four times at Snider, but police said he would not stop charging. Another officer then fired several shots from his pistol.

Police said the incident began after a victim called 911 to report an assault and identified Snider as the suspect. Police believe the assault resulted from a botched meth deal.
