After being stuck for three days atop a 60-foot electric pole, a cat was rescued Monday by a group of people in Doña Ana County.
The cat, named Athena, had been stuck atop the pole near her family's home since Friday.
The cat was rescued thanks to officers from Doña Ana County Animal Control and El Paso Electric linemen.
Power was disconnected from the pole Monday afternoon for safety reasons while the cat was rescued. An animal control officer was then hoisted up to the cat in a bucket truck provided by the linemen.
A veterinarian from the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office who was on the scene on the scene examined Athena following her rescue and reported her as being in good health, aside for some dehydration.
Athena's owners will not be charged for the electrical outage, which lasted for about an hour.
