CROSSROADS, N.M. (AP) - A wildfire has burned thousands of acres of prairie in eastern New Mexico.
The Highway 508 fire started in Lea County and has moved into Roosevelt County.
A state Forestry Division spokesman says containment was at 70 percent late Monday night.
Spokesman Dan Ware says firefighting efforts were helped by lighter winds and cooler temperatures.
So far there's no word on cause of the fire.
