The Medical Investigator's office has ruled a nine-year-old Albuquerque boy's death was a homicide.
In December, Albuquerque police arrested the boy's mother, Synthia Varela-Casaus, for her son Omaree's death.
At the time, she told officers she accidentally kicked her son too hard.
The Office of the Medical Investigator says Omaree died from blunt trauma.
The report lays out extensive bruises, cuts and burns all over the boy's body.
Investigators say they found injuries consistent with a history of abuse.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 is working to find out if Varela-Casaus's charges will change from child abuse resulting in death to homicide.
