A wildfires is burning in southern Valencia County.

The fire, called the Pino Fire, has been burning in the bosque area near Highway 346 and the River Bridge. The fire is burning primarily in thick stands of salt cedar and is approximately 40 acres in size. Six homes in the area could be affected but there have been no evacuations.

Latest reports indicate that the fire is starting to slow thanks to natural and agricultural breaks along its path.

Two firefighters have sustained minor injuries battling the fire. Both are expected to be okay.

A second fire was reported near Jarelas but was later determined to be part of the Pino Fire.
