Six people were arrested for disorderly conduct on Central Avenue Sunday during a protest of the Albuquerque Police Department.

Between 8 and 10 p.m., police arrested Casey Baker, Jason Isaac Lopez, Michael Moreno-Ulibarri, Gerardo Martinez, Jamie Lynn Newcomm and Andrew George Raush on charges of disorderly conduct. All were booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The protest started peacefully around noon, but as the day progressed, some people climbed light poles and a police substation in Nob Hill and vandalized buildings.

A small group of protesters also tried to overtake I-25 and Central, but the area was quickly cleared.

During a news conference Monday afternoon, police said two of the arrests were unrelated to the protest, even though they were made at the same general time and location as the others.
