They’re words left behind by Sunday’s protestors. Graffiti on city property. Some read, “We are James Boyd” and “James Boyd Lives.”

Up Central, KOB Eyewitness News 4 found more angry words towards the Albuquerque Police Department. This was what the Triangle Park Police Substation in Nob Hill looked like Tuesday morning – cracked eggs and graffiti covered the walls. Some graffiti read “FTP”, which stands for F-word The Police.

But come sunrise, city crews were working to cover up those messages. But crews couldn’t erase the anxiety that some still feel after Sunday’s protest. “It was pretty nuts. It got a little hairy at some points,” said Keith Pacheco, a student at UNM.

Keith Pacheco agrees with why people were protesting but now how they did it. “Lots of what looked very angry people coming up and down the streets. I tried to avoid the area if I could,” added Pacheco.

But some had no choice – they were caught in the middle of it all.

“People were leaving their meal and going to the window just to see. Everybody had their cameras up and posed to see if anything was going to happen,” said Pete Villegas, general manager of Frontier Restaurant.

Villegas said with hundreds of protestors outside, many customers and employees felt trapped inside. He ended up closing the restaurant 3 hours early, which means a loss of nearly $2,000.

“Anything could have set it off. We felt that we had made the right decision,” added Villegas.

So while people are picking up the pieces Monday, they can’t help but wonder – will this happen again?
