The Paseo I-25 Interchange Project – when some people hear those words, they might cringe. For months now, the huge project has been causing a lot of nightmares for some drivers on the road.

"It's very, very congested obviously, you know, traffic phasing and working along traffic is always an obstacle," said Jim Thomsen with Kiewit.

For the first time, KOB Eyewitness News 4 is getting a close look at the construction and how it's coming along.

Right now, crews are working on the San Mateo on ramp, and right over that will be the San Antonio bridge off-ramp, which will open in May.

Next for crews: A flyover ramp. "It's a 1,300 foot curved bridge over I-25 and Paseo," added Thomsen.

In about 3 weeks, crews will start working on that ramp, which means more lane changes will be coming soon.

The project is still expected to be complete by the end of December.
