ALBUQUERQUE -- Police have responded to the scene of a shooting at a residence in the 3300 block of Shepard NE on Thursday afternoon.

According to APD spokeswoman Tasia Martinez, a 16-year-old boy who called 911 told police that his father had picked him up from school and when they arrived home, there were four men inside.

The teen told police that one of the men shot his father in the leg with a shotgun.

The men then stole the victim's handgun and AK-47 then drove off in the victim's silver GMC pickup. According to the teen, they were all wearing bandanas over their faces.

The victim has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

APD detectives are investigating the motive behind the shooting and attempting to identify the suspects. Police are not sure at this time if the offenders were previously acquainted with the victim, but neighbors think the shooting is drug related.
