The recent protests in Albuquerque began when Albuquerque police officers shot and killed James Boyd on March 16.
Boyd, a homeless man, was illegally camping in the foothills when he was confronted by officers.
His family is in Albuquerque this weekend for Sunday’s memorial service and burial.
They are speaking only to KOB Eyewitness News 4.
KOB joined the family as they made their visit to the site where James Boyd was fatally shot by APD officers.
Boyd’s mother is in from Oregon and his brother from Alabama.
In the interview, KOB and the family discuss the controversial video where Boyd is seen shot by officers with bullets, bean bags and taser guns.
The interview will also touch on APD Chief Gorden Eden’s controversial remarks that were made following the shooting.
"Do I think this was a justified shooting, yes,” Eden said. “If you follow case law Garner Vs. Tennessee there was a directed threat to an officer."
The exclusive interview can be seen on KOB Eyewitness News 4 at 10 p.m.
