Dozens of people showed up on Saturday morning to support a Corrales police officer who was seriously injured in a crash.
They were walking and raising money for Officer Jeremy Romero.
Romero was seriously injured in a high speed chase in January.
He and his family recently returned from Denver, where they had to relocate for his therapy and rehabilitation.
"Today we're doing a benefit walk for Officer Jeremy Romero,” Family friend Julie Baca said. “We wanted to try to help the family right now in this time of need for them...which has been a difficult life changing for everyone in the family."
Romero tried to stop a driver for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to stop and took Romero on a chase with speeds reaching over 100 miles an hour.
Romero lost control of his vehicle and flipped.
