An Albuquerque man is facing assault charges after police say he put many lives in danger.

According to police, Gerald Gerken failed to stop at an intersection during the Albuquerque Marathon on Saturday morning.

Police say Gerken sill rolled through the intersection even after an officer commanded him to stop.

The officer says runners had to move out of the way to avoid being struck.

The officer even pulled out his weapon, but Gerken refused to stop and get out of his truck.

He has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.
