Mountain View Middle School was evacuated Tuesday morning after a student ran through the hall yelling there was a bomb in the building.
"At that time the school goes into lockdown," said Chaves County Deputy Michael Herrington.
Deputies say when they searched the school, they found a suspicious object.
"It turned out to be nothing of interest," said Herrington.
It turned out to be two condoms full of water in the trash can.
"But because that is something that you dont normally find inside of trash cans, it was brought outside, it was tested," said Herrington.
But it wasn't over.
Nearly three hours after the threat, the school was evacuated a second time.
Deputies say the second evacuation was a misunderstanding,
"They had us behind the buiding," said Mountain View Middle School student Anamaria Venzor. "I was really scared by then once I saw the sheriffs and everything."
"I wanted to make sure he was safe," said Della Sanchez.
Sanchez picked up her grandson as soon as she found out.
"Not very safe and not very happy," said Sanchez.
Sanchez says she wishes the parents were notified sooner.
Deputies have not identified which student made the threat.
