A UNM football player accused of kidnapping and raping a student made his first appearance in court today, but before then, he was talking on social media, where he's getting some support from fans.
Crusoe Gongbay nervously waited for the judge to call on him for his first appearance, his eyes wide and hands folded.
Police say Gongbay and two other men, Ryan Ruff and another suspect police are still looking for, raped a female UNM student while driving around in a car.
The victim says Ruff also pulled a gun on her.
“Mr. Gongbay is not going to make any statements today thank you,” attorney Bob Cooper said. “As he stands here today he is presumed innocent.”
Gongbay's lawyer told the judge his client has no prior convictions, and wants to go home to Maryland for spring break.
The judge granted that request.
We’re also told a sketch of the third suspect won't be ready until Friday.
Campus police are waiting for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office to send over a sketch artist.
